My last crack at Boston qualifying was three months ago, in July. I was two minutes shy of the 3:05 cutoff to Boston qualify then, and I had to continue my training until last Sunday when I ran the Portland marathon in 2:58 to earn the chance to run Boston!
I ran the Foot Traffic Flat in 3'07". Its a solid time and a PR at 36 minutes faster than my previous marathon time.
Its time to choose a Marathon to Boston Qualify. I've spent a year not working and have enjoyed virtually uninterrupted training. I feel confident, and like there is no better time than the present to see what my body can perform. Life has a tendency to get in the way even when I have the best intentions, and I'm in great cardiovascular shape.
I've used Hanson's Marathon Method as a rough guide for how much to run, pace, and to gauge my level of fitness. There is information about the physiology of running and the adaptations that the program intends to achieve. So, I've been trying to mould myself into a better runner.
