I've used Hanson's Marathon Method as a rough guide for how much to run, pace, and to gauge my level of fitness. There is information about the physiology of running and the adaptations that the program intends to achieve. So, I've been trying to mould myself into a better runner.
It's also time for another challenge. I'm going to train to qualify for the Boston Marathon.
Age Group | Qualifying Time |

I have run a marathon (officially) twice. I ran my first Marathon in 4:20 and the second in 3:45. The first time I was running great till I slammed into "the wall". The second time, I had plenty left in the tank even after I turned up my pace during the last few miles. Both times I had no preparation. So, with some serious training, I think I can bring my time down 45 minutes to 3 hours flat.
Admittedly, its an ambitious goal. Dropping 45 minutes off my best time is a tall order. My cardio is as good as its ever been, and my half marathon pace is where it needs to be. After four months of training, I am sure that I can maintain that pace for the entire 26.2.
Presently, I am in the middle of a transition...spring is beginning and I am leaving sunny Florida to cooler climates. In a few weeks I will be in Portland, Oregon. Then, I will start my training and search for a fast race to try to qualify.
